Good for quick videos, some limitations

I purchased the annual plan primarily for the YouTube Short Generator and found it quite efficient for creating quick content. The AI Voiceovers were surprisingly natural, and the Automated B-roll Selection saved me a lot of time. However, I did notice that the AI Video Editor, while functional, lacks some of the more advanced features I'm used to in other platforms. Customization options for the video templates felt a bit limited too. The platform is a good value for the price, especially with the annual discount, and delivery of the license key landed in my inbox within a minute of purchase. Overall, it streamlines the video creation process for social media, but there's room for improvement in the editing suite.

Super easy video making

I tried out VideoGen because I needed to make some quick Instagram Reels for my small business. Honestly, I wasn't sure how it would go since I'm not super techy, but it was really straightforward. I just typed in my script, and it pretty much did everything else. The AI Subtitle Generator worked great, which is a big deal for me. I did run into a small snag trying to find a specific type of stock footage, but overall, it was a smooth process. I'm pretty happy with how my reels turned out, and it saved me a bunch of time.

Thinking of getting VideoGen, but how many videos can you actually make a month with it? Don't want to hit a cap too fast.

M Marcus Patel 1 month ago

It depends on your plan, but even the basic paid ones give you a decent amount. I make like 10-15 short videos a month for my social media and haven't hit the limit yet.

J Jared Ito 1 month ago

On the free trial, it's pretty limited, I think you get like 2-3 short ones. But paid tiers have way more, check their pricing page for exact numbers.

Does VideoGen have a free version or is it just a free trial that eventually locks you out?

D Dan Whitfield 2 months ago

It's more of a free trial, yeah. You can try it out for a bit, but for actual use without watermarks and all the features, you'll need to subscribe.

D Dan Whitfield 2 months ago

There's a free trial to test it out, but it's not a perpetually free tier like some other tools. You'll get a watermark on anything you make during the trial too.

Can I use videos made with VideoGen for my YouTube channel and actually monetize them?

J June 1 month ago

Yep, absolutely. They give you commercial usage rights. That's one of the main reasons I picked them over some free tools.

A Andre 1 month ago

For sure, that's what I do. No issues with monetization or copyright claims from using their stock footage/music, as long as you're on a paid plan.

Anyone know if VideoGen is any good compared to Pictory or HeyGen? Trying to decide which one to go with.

A Amber A. 1 month ago

I've used Pictory and VideoGen. VideoGen's AI voiceovers feel a bit more natural to me, and the b-roll selection is usually spot on without much tweaking. Pictory is okay, but VideoGen just feels a bit more polished.

N Neil 1 month ago

HeyGen is great for talking avatars but if you're doing more general text-to-video with stock footage, VideoGen is pretty solid. It's faster too, in my experience.

What's the deal with canceling a subscription? Is it a pain or pretty straightforward?

A Andre 2 months ago

Super easy. I canceled once when I paused my project and it was just a few clicks in my account settings. No hoops to jump through.

R Rachel Marsh 1 month ago

It's straightforward. You can cancel anytime, but just know that they don't do prorated refunds for the current billing cycle, so cancel before your renewal date.

Does VideoGen accept PayPal or is it just credit cards?

R Rachel Marsh 2 months ago

I'm pretty sure they take PayPal. I used it for my subscription last year. Standard cards are also an option.

T Tom 1 month ago

Yeah, they do. I paid with my Visa but I saw PayPal as an option too when I signed up.

Are there ever any promo codes for VideoGen? Or is it just the annual plan discount usually?

A Andre 1 month ago

Mostly annual plan discounts and referrals, but they do sometimes drop codes during big sales like Black Friday. Keep an eye out then.

J Josh R. 1 month ago

Yeah, coupons are rare. I think I got one once during a Cyber Monday sale, but it's not a regular thing. Best bet is the annual subscription for savings.

I'm a student, do they offer any kind of discount for us poor folks?

E Elena 1 month ago

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they have a student discount. I remember seeing something about it on their site or maybe in an email a while back. Worth checking their help section.

M Mia 1 month ago

I think they do! I saw someone mention a student discount code on a forum once. Look around on their site, it's usually in the FAQs or a dedicated page.
